The main constituents of Wollastonite are SiO2 and CaO, over 92% in total. In the production of glass fiber, it can partly replace quartz sand, pyrauxite and limestone, but introduce silicon dioxide and calcium oxide to perform better fluxing performances and decrease furnace melting temperature which is good for reducing carbon emission and saving energy. On the other side Wollastonite increases the speed of fiber forming and improves the glass melting rate and the glass fiber quality. Due to the refractory problem on quartz sand and other material solved, the melting rate has improved and the cost of the production has greatly reduced.
